The Cuckoo has been welcoming students from Primary and Secondary schools for decades and can offer a number of different experiences!
Book your school group in for a pleasure trip up to the Dandenong Ranges. There’s no work today! Just indulge in the enormous buffet (the kids LOVE the dessert buffet) and soak up the quirky Cuckoo atmosphere that can’t be found anywhere else in Melbourne.
Students get to enjoy our unique Bavarian floor show and interact with the performers. Great for a treat and a unique experience which students remember for years.
As part of cultural studies at school, a visit to the Cuckoo restaurant gives students a unique insight into a different culture. The Cuckoo has its roots in Bavaria, a free state in southern Germany bordering Austria and the Czech Republic. Bavaria is known for its medieval castles, pretty towns, magnificent palaces and baroque churches. It is also well known for it’s sausage, beer, and lederhosen.
Students on a cultural visit to the Cuckoo get to experience some of the traditional foods of Bavaria, see the staff dressed in traditional costume, marvel at the Bavarian chalet environment and interact with the floor show staff as they perform yodelling, schunkelling (and some chicken dancing thrown in for fun!)
Project pages can be provided (for junior or senior school level) and students can ask staff to assist in completing questions that relate to objects around the restaurant.
For a singing experience the Cuckoo can provide a selection of simple German songs that a singing group can select from and learn one prior to their visit to the Cuckoo. As an option they can then perform the song as part of the floor show.
This has been a great success with enthusiastic singing teachers and groups and the local papers love this type of experience.
